Morton-James Public Library will host its 2025 summer reading program, “Color Our World,” beginning June 1.
Registration forms, reading logs, and the reading log dropbox will be available in the Library lobby, 923 1st Corso, beginning May 26, and reading logs begin on June 1.
Special programs this summer include the “Color Our World” Kickoff Party on Monday, June 2, at 10 a.m.; “Science Heroes (Science + Storytelling” at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5; a “Stomp, Chomp, Roar Dinosaur Program” at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12; magician Jeff Quinn at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20; and the final program, “Wildlife Encounters,” at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at the Nebraska City Middle School, 909 1st Corso.
Themed Story Times for those age 6 and younger will be as follows: “Mr. Oakley’s Favorite Color Story Time” at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4; a guest reader from Keep Nebraska City Beautiful at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11; a guest reader from Kimmel Orchard at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18; a guest reader from Lifetime Vision Center at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25; “Independence Day Story Time” with face painting from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2; “Chalk Art Story Time” at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9; “Colors in Bloom: Flower Story Time” at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16; “Pete the Cat Story Time” at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 23; and the final program, “Music Story Time” with a guest educator from the Omaha Symphony at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30.
Take and Make Craft Kits will be available for pickup at the Library during the following weeks: July 1 to 5, red, white, and blue cupcake liner ice cream cone craft; July 7 to 12, cupcake liner balloons craft; July 14 to 19, clouds and rainbow craft; July 21 to 26, handprint animals craft; and July 28 to 31, cupcake liner dinosaur craft.
The Library will have a table with free craft supplies at the Nebraska City Farmers Market from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29; Thursday, June 12; Thursday, June 26; Thursday, July 10; Thursday, July 24; Thursday, August 14; and Thursday, August 28.
