Mary Lou Smith, age 85 of Nebraska City died November 24, 2022 at the Ambassador Care Center in Nebraska City. Mary Lou was born January 29, 1937 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Alfred and Marguerite (Koelling) Rinne. She had worked as a medical transcriptionist in a hospital and in later years served as the secretary at Bethel United Church of Christ. Mary Lou formerly lived in Missouri, Colorado and New Mexico before moving to Nebraska City in 2000. Survivors include her children, Julie Smith, Jody Smith, Joni Smith-Curry; grandchildren, Jenna Curry, Seretha Curry and Colin Smith; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jamie Smith; and brother, Allen Rinne.

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery near Steinauer.
