Legion Juniors post June 6 win over Sampson

The Nebraska City American Legion Juniors beat Sampson Construction, 16-9, on June 6 and entered play on June 10 with a record of 3-3.

Offensive leaders against Sampson were Carter Hoyle, single and home run; Braylon Fletcher, three hits including a double; Hudson Miller, two hits including a double; Kade Bossung, double; Cash Hoy, single; Landon Van Erdewyk, single; and Caleb Hodges, single.

Hudson Miller pitched two innings, struck out two, walked two and allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits. Brayden Brown pitched 2.2 innings, struck out one, walked five and allowed six runs, one earned, on three hits. Braylon Fletcher pitched one out.

In other recent action, the Juniors lost to Waverly 15-2 on June 4, and dropped a 9-7 decision at Auburn on June 9.

Caleb Hodges, Cash Hoy and Derek Van Arsdol had singles against Waverly. Van Arsdol pitched 2.2 innings, struck out three, walked three and allowed nine runs, three earned, on six hits. Hudson Miller pitched an inning, walked one, and allowed an earned run on two hits. Isaac Stidd pitched 1.1 innings, struck out one, walked two, and allowed five runs, two earned, on three hits.

Both Nebraska City and Auburn ended their game with seven hits. Carter Hoyle had two hits including a double. NC players with singles were Trevor Flash, Derek Van Arsdol, Caleb Hodges, Landon Van Erdewyk, and Braylon Fletcher.

Braylon Fletcher pitched two innings, struck out one, walked three and allowed five runs, two earned, on three hits. Isaac Stidd pitched three innings, struck out two, walked one and allowed four unearned runs on four hits.

Sutton 10, NC 5

Carter Hoyle had two hits including a double while Sam Rovetto, Landon Ferguson and Jesus Martinez had singles in a June 1 loss.

James Fairbanks pitched three innings, struck out five, walked three and allowed six runs, one earned, on three hits. Riley Penney pitched 2.1 innings, struck out three, walked four, and allowed four earned runs on five hits.

Waverly 8, NC 0

Tristan Kingery had a single and a double while Carter Hoyle, Greyson Flash and James Fairbanks had single singles in a June 4 loss. Greyson Flash pitched five innings, struck out one, walked two and allowed five earned runs on eight hits. Landon Ferguson pitched an inning, struck out two, walked three and allowed three unearned runs on one hit.

NC 6, Sampson 2

Tristan Kingery doubled twice and had three hits overall to lead a 10-hit offense in a win over Sampson Construction on June 6. Sam Rovetto and Cash Hoy each had two hits. Players with singles were Carter Hoyle, Derek Van Arsdol, and Riley Penney. Pitching the win was Penney. He worked four frames, struck out seven, walked three, and allowed two earned runs on four hits. Carter Hoyle pitched three innings, struck out six, walked three, and allowed no runs on one hit.

NC 4, Auburn 2

A three-run third inning pushed Nebraska City to a June 9 win over Auburn.

Tristan Kingery and James Fairbanks each had two hits. Carter Hoyle had a double. Sam Rovetto, Landon Ferguson and Trevor Tesarek had singles.

Tesarek pitched the win with a seven-inning complete game effort. He struck out four, walked four and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits.
