(Gary White flag) The Nebraska chapter of Honor and Remember presented a flag to the family of NCPD Officer Gary White on July 9, 2020. John Meier shows the Honor and Sacrifice flag to Firefighter Skyler White of St. Joseph, Mo., White’s nephew. Symbols on the flag are as follows: The blue field symbolizes law enforcement. The purple field respectfully signifies mourning. The whitefield recognizes the purity of heart within each individual who serves in public safety. The black star represents those who wear the badge. The red Maltese cross recognizes all who have fallen in emergency response. The gold shield recognizes all who wear the shield and have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Gold reflects the value of the life given. The folded flag signifies the final tribute to an individual a family has lost for the sake of others. The flame is an eternal reminder of the spirit that has departed this life yet burns on in the memory of all who knew and loved the fallen hero.
