Honeywell Inclusion and Diversity group donates picnic tables to NCECBVI

Press Release

World Braille Day is celebrated on January 4 each year to honor the life and work of Louis Braille, the inventor of braille. The day also raises awareness about the importance of braille as a reading and writing system for people who are blind or visually impaired.

Honeywell’s Inclusion and Diversity wanted to bring awareness to World Braille Day, so we set up a “Pie The Supervisor” competition. We wanted to see which one of four supervisors could raise the most money and have our workers get a chance to throw a pie at them for participating.

The winning Supervisor raised $91.47 and chose a Banana Crème Pie. A total of $192.07 was raised and was donated to the Nebraska Center for the Education of Children who are Blind or Visually Impaired (NCECBVI) on April 22.

The school requested that we use the money raised to help purchase picnic tables or outdoor benches as they require more areas for students to sit and spend time outdoors on the school grounds, so we ordered two all-weather, wheelchair-accessible outdoor picnic tables for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
