Dorothy Lucille Moyer was born on November 19, 1927, in Nebraska City, NE. Dorothy was the daughter of Earl Thompson and Goldie Lucille (Bird) Thompson. She passed on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022, at the age of 94 at the home of her daughter in New Braunfels, TX. Dorothy grew up in Nebraska City and spent most her life in the Nebraska City area.
On April 25, 1963, Dorothy married David James Moyer Sr. and they moved to a farm on the Missouri River bottom near Hamburg, Iowa. They lived at the farm for 24 years before they retired to Nebraska City. Dorothy remained in Nebraska City until 2006, when she moved to Texas to live with her daughter Darla and husband Lonnie Bane. Dorothy was in her daughter’s home when she passed and went to be with her Lord and Savior. Prior to her marriage to David Moyer Sr., Dorothy owned and operated various restaurants in Nebraska City including Dots Donut Shop and The Hamburger Inn. While on the farm she ran a cake decorating business and taught cake decorating for over 20 years. She designed, made, and delivered many wedding cakes during this 20-year period.
Those left to cherish her memories include her sister, Inez Moyer of Sidney, IA; sisters-in-law Doris Moyer of Sidney, IA and Carola Moyer of Colorado Springs, CO; children Deldene Lowder of Tarkio, MO, Daris Gilbert (Wayne) of Mineola, TX, Darla Bane (Lonnie) of New Braunfels, TX, Marcia Bacino (Tony) of Florence, MT, Deanna White (Marlin) of Clovis, NM, David Moyer Jr. (Susan) of Lubbock, TX and Darren Moyer (Sheri) of Salina, KS; 22 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband David James Moyer Sr (1990); parents Earl and Goldie Thompson; several brothers in law and sisters in law; a nephew Gaylon Moyer (2007) and a granddaughter, Crystal LaRae Moyer (2019).
Memorials can be made to Hope Hospice in New Braunfels, TX or a tree may be planted in memory of Dorothy on the Gude Mortuary website. A tree would be planted in a National Park in the United States where there is the greatest need for them. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 18,
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating. Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thurs. (2/17) at the mortuary.
