During the June 3 Nebraska City City Council meeting, the pending retirement of Nebraska City Police Department Chief David S. Lacy was announced.
Chief Lacy, who began his service with the NCPD on Aug. 28, 1981, will serve his last day on the force on July 12. The city has begun a search for the NCPD chief, according to Nebraska City City Administrator Perry Mader.
During the June 3 meeting, council members also
Approved Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce’s request to hold the annual Treestock Festival in Steinhart Park on June 29 and 30;
Approved a special designated license request from Little Ted’s Pub and Grill to host a Treetstock Festival Beer Garden at Central Avenue and Steinhart Park Road from 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturday, June 29, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 30;
Approved a special designated license request from the City Tap House LLC to host an event in the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building, 810 1st Corso, from 6 to 8 p.m. as part of The Broadway Advantage musical event; and
Approved the $55,847 contract with MC Wells Contracting LLC of Omaha for the 2024 Steinhart Park Road Timber Bridge Repairs. The project is scheduled to begin July 8, weather permitting, and last approximately 60 days.
The next Nebraska City City Council meeting is set for 6 p.m. Monday, June 17, in the Gary White Memorial Room/Council Chambers of the Rowe Memorial Public Safety Complex, 1518 Central Ave.
