A storybook of losses by razor-thin margins unfortunately added another chapter for the Lourdes girls’ basketball team on Friday night at home against Lincoln Lutheran as the Warriors nipped the Knights by one, 3736, in the Class C2-2 subdistrict final.
Lourdes enjoyed a slim lead at the half on Monday, Feb. 20, but Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer came on strong in the second half and got a big fourth quarter performance from its leading scorer to take an opening round game, 46-30, in boys’ basketball subdistrict action at Johnson-Brock.

Kirt Manion, CherryRoad Media Bayler Poston scored a sixth-place medal and other Nebraska City wrestlers posted wins during action at the 2023 Nebraska Scholastic Activities Association State Wrestling Championships at the CHI Health Center in Omaha from Thursday, Feb. 16, to Saturday, Feb.
Senior grappler Bayler Poston won an individual district championship to lead a group of four state qualifiers for the Nebraska City boys’ wrestling team at the district tournament at Ralston on Friday, Feb. 10, and Saturday, Feb. 11.
