Makayla VasserNebraska City’s Makayla Vasser was in action for the NEUSA Freestyle/Greco State tournament at Crete on May 5.Vasser took first place in girls 16U Greco for 170 pounds and was also first for Junior Greco at 170 pounds.
Shooters on the Nebraska City trap team competed in a six-week season with two home meets from March 16 to April 20.Alex Peter, a member of the seniors squad, scored medals at home on March 16, at Crete on March 23, and at Beatrice on March 30.
Friday, May 3, saw the Lourdes girls’ and boys’ track and field teams in action at the program’s annual invitational, the Rettig Invite, on the Nebraska City High School track with the Knight girls’ squad scoring a second-place finish.Johnson-Brock won the girls’ team championship with 155.5 points while Lourdes had 129 for second.

Nebraska City grabbed a 4-1 lead after three innings of postseason baseball action against North Platte, but the Bulldogs rallied with a four-run fourth inning and topped the Pioneers by the final count of 5-4 on Thursday, May 1.The Pioneers had seven hits, compared to six for North Platte.
