NC Legion Juniors get clutch hits, stellar pitching versus Tecumseh

Clutch late-game hitting and a stellar pitching performance powered the Nebraska City American Legion Juniors baseball team to a 2-0 win over Tecumseh at Clemmy Holmes Field on Friday, July 5.The game sped through scoreless innings with Nebraska City’s Kaiden Klassen silencing the Tecumseh batters and spinning a web gem that eventually concluded with a complete game of excellence.Klassen pitched seven frames, struck out 13 and walked none.

Makayla Vasser of the Nebraska City High School wrestling team competed at the 2024 AFSW Junior Women’s National Duals in freestyle wrestling last month as a member of Team Nebraska at the Cox Business Convention Center in Tulsa, Okla.

NC 18s play tourneys, take second place

The Nebraska City 18s fast pitch softball team competed at the USA Softball State Tournament on June 14, 15 and 16, at Hastings, and were once again in action for the USSSA State Tournament on June 21, 22 and 23 in Lincoln.Nebraska City won five of seven games at the USA event and recorded a second-place finish for the tournament.Box scores from that tournament are below.NC 9, Force Softball 4Nebraska City had nine runs on 14 hits with one error.Tarryn Godsey went 3-for-4 with a double while Lextyn Harker had a single and a double.

Solid offense, Snyder pitching lead NC Seniors

A 12-hit offensive and a great pitching performance by a veteran hurler helped push the Nebraska City American Legion Seniors baseball team to its first win of the 2024 summer season in a 10-4 final against Nemaha Sports Construction on the road on Tuesday, June 11.Colton Snyder, a mainstay athlete for the Legion program in recent years, went 5.1 innings on the mound, struck out 11, walked four and allowed four earned runs on six hits.
