Nebraska City’s girls’ and boys’ wrestling teams were in action over the weekend at a two-day showcase tournament at the Mid America Center in Council Bluff�s on Friday and Saturday. The Pioneers took 26th in a fi�eld of 41 schools which represented multiple states from Iowa and Nebraska and Kansas to South Dakota and Minnesota.
Peru State Athletic Director Wayne Albury recently announced that women's volleyball player Cassie Davis (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and football player Devin Adams (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) were selected as November's Bobcat Athletes of the Month.

In scores from this week, the Pioneer boys' and girls' basketball teams played at Ralston on Tuesday, were home against Louisville on Thursday and home again for games against Arlington on Friday. The Pioneer boys' fell to Ralston, 71-61, and Louisville, 42-39 in overtime. The girls' fell to Ralston and Louisville. The score of Ralston game was 56-40. Peru State swept recent basketball games against Graceland on Dec. 4 with the Bobcat women winning 60-48 and the men winning 74-59.
In order to repeat as the champions of the Pioneer Conference, the Lourdes girls’ basketball team needed to prove it could beat its rival and fellow top conference contender Falls City Sacred Heart.
Nebraska City swept the dual results of a home boys’ wrestling tournament on Friday night. Victories came against Bancroft Rosalie, 78-6; West Point Beemer, 60-15; Omaha Bryan, 55-21; Bellevue East, 54-27; and Millard North, 43-30.
Early season home tournament action saw the Lourdes Knights host the Elmwood-Murdock Knights in championship and third place games. Lourdes took to the court for the boys’ third place game and responded to the challenge of Coach Trevor Krenk in scoring 27 second half points on the way to a 40-27 victory.

The Nebraska City girls’ wrestling team placed 5th at the 25 team Rumble on the River wrestling invite. Jocelyn Davis led the girls with a silver medal as she went 3-1.
The Nebraska City girls’ basketball team opened its season with a 45-15 set back at Beatrice on Friday, Dec. 3.
