Distance runners were the stars for the Nebraska City track team last week at the Scott Nisely Invite on the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca track. The Pioneer boys’ team finished with 44 points, second behind Norris in the 11-team field.

The Lourdes girls’ track team earned an invitational championship and Beau Lee scored three medals and a school record for the Knight boys’ team during action on April 12 at the Lewiston Invite on the Pawnee City track.
Members of the Nebraska City girls’ tennis team were in action at the Ralston Invite on Saturday, April 9. Results at No. 1 doubles had Kaitlyn Howard and Gracie Ragland falling 8-5 to Blair and 6-4 and 6-3 against Kearney Catholic.
The Pioneer JV Tennis team tied for first place at its home meet on April 13 against Bellevue East, Omaha Gross and Elkhorn. Baylor Lee earned third place in singles action. Jada Lyons and Megan Essary earned second in doubles and Caroline Gay and Emerson Becker took first in doubles.
A three-run fifth inning allowed the Nebraska City baseball team to walk off with a run-rule victory of 13-3 in home action against the Omaha North Vikings on Saturday, April 9. The Pioneers finished with 13 runs on 12 hits with one error.
Track athletes from Lourdes competed in the recent Thunderbird Invite at Johnson County Central. A 10-run first inning got the Nebraska City baseball team going toward a 16-13 win in action at Seward on Monday, April 4. The Pioneers finished with 16 hits, with seven being extra-base hits, and six Nebraska City hitters had multiple hit days led by Zach Tesarek’s 5-of-6 outing including two doubles.
