Nebraska City High School graduate Brennen Bales announced recently on Twitter that he will play his final season of college baseball at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. “I’m excited to announce that I will be transferring to the University of Nebraska Omaha to finish out my college baseball career.

On Sunday, the NCAA DII, DIII, NAIA and JUCO All-Midlands Softball Teams were announced by the Omaha World-Herald. Ellie Ohlde (Fairbury) and Morgan Wilke (Bakersfield, Calif.) were named as All-Midlands Honorable Mentions.
The Nebraska City American Legion Modern Real Estate Seniors were in action for a tournament in Lincoln on Thursday and Friday of last week. The team opened tourney play with a loss to Lincoln East (9-0) and battled back with a Thursday win over Omaha Westside (7-6) and a Friday win over Omaha Gross (15- 5) before falling to Kearney Runza (14-4). Cael Kreifel had the go-ahead home run against Omaha Westside and Zack Tesarek pitched a complete game and went 5-for-5 at the plate against Omaha Gross.
