Wouldn’t it be nice if we had some welcomed fake news? I can picture it now! “Gas – 19 cents a gallon!” “Congress passes a bill in complete agreement!” “Covid-19 has passed into the history books!” “Putin agree to ‘play nice’ in the world’s sandbox!” Oh, yeah, we could use some good news, couldn’t we? But – we will have to do with the news we have. That is reality.
Yesterday morning on my way to church I saw something I didn’t dream I would ever see. There, in the roadside ditch sat a regal bald eagle enjoying a breakfast opossum! I had heard there had been some sightings in our immediate area but didn’t think I would see one so close up and personal.

What should happen with extra tax revenues? That’s the main question being debated this session by state senators. For me, the answer is obvious. The money should be given back to the hardworking Nebraskans who paid those taxes in the first place.

Peru State athletic director Wayne Albury recently announced the selection of Maddy Duncan of Hamburg and Jibril Harris of Chicago as the Bobcat Athletes of the Month for January. Duncan, in the month of the January, averaged 15.4 points per game as she was in double figures in seven out of eight games for the women’s basketball team.
