Check fields, pastures for weed problems

Gary Lesoing, Extension Educator Late summer, fall and harvest are good times to check out where you may have a problem with specific weeds or where a new weed is invading or possibly even herbicide resistance is developing. By identifying the weed, extent of any infestations and locations of weed problems, you will have a better strategy for managing these weeds in the future, maybe even this fall.

This weekend, Democrats unilaterally passed yet another reckless spending bill. The Schumer-Manchin legislation will waste taxpayer dollars, raise taxes, and do nothing to address inflation.

Americans deserve a strong economy

A recession is the worst time to raise taxes, yet here we are again – fighting against a tax-and-spend agenda. Last week, new government data show what American families have been feeling for months now: we are officially in a recession. The U.S. economy shrank by .9 percent in the second quarter of the year, the second consecutive quarter of negative growth.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” ESV Thoughts can destroy, so they must be properly managed. The greatest things on earth started with a thought, and also some of the most destructive chapters of our history started with a thought. Thoughts can either be nurtured or put to death, and I believe the divine mark of our humanity lies in the ability to make this decision.

Missing Raindrops or Counting Down

There is an old saying that goes like this “You never miss the water till the well runs dry.” And – it would seem, there are wells that indeed are running dry or getting low today without rain to recharge the soil and water levels. I am not used to restricted watering. On the farm we had our own delicious tasting well water and as an insurance policy – we signed up for Rural Water, too.
