Roger Lynn Jun

Roger Lynn Jun, 79, of Otoe passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Syracuse on Saturday, July 17, 2022. He was born on April 9, 1943 to Golda Marie (Goodheart) and Arnold Jun in Humboldt, NE. While growing up on his grandfather’s farm in the Humboldt area, he attended school in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1960. In 1964, Roger graduated from Milford Community College with a degree in Agribusiness.

Patrick Friede

Patrick Friede, 76, of Brimfield, IL passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, at UnityPoint Health - Methodist Hospital. Pat was born on October 12, 1945 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Edwin and Catherine (Burke) Friede. He married Lynda Fox on July 14th, 1973, in Peoria, IL. He was preceded in death by his mom, Catherine, his dad, Edwin, and his brother Allan Friede. He is survived by his wife, Lynda, and his two daughters, Jennifer (Gary) Shadid of Peoria, Robin (John) Schaffer of Germantown Hills, and his five grandkids, Andrew Schaffer, Ellie Schaffer, Sarah Schaffer, Gabriel Shadid, and Michael Shadid. He is also survived by four additional grandkids, Peter Shadid, Jack Shadid, Grace Shadid, and David Shadid. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Kay (Allen) Arp of Yutan, Nebraska and his sister-in-law, Linda Friede of Peoria.

Allen Ray Boyer

Allen Ray Boyer, 70, of Crab Orchard passed away July 13, 2022. He was born August 1, 1951, in Nebraska City to Merten and Ruth (Walters) Boyer. He grew up in Nebraska City, graduating from Nebraska City High School in 1969. He joined the United States Air Force in June of 1969 and served overseas until June of 1973. He was also in the Nebraska Army National Guard from 1973-77. He married Beverly Trout on December 29, 1973, and to this union they were blessed with two sons, Travis, and Jordan. They initially lived in Beatrice before moving to Holmesville, where they raised their family. He often commented that those were the best years of his life. Allen worked and retired from the Gage County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He was an active member of the Beatrice Legion Club for many years, where he bartended, helped with Easter Egg Hunts, and played Santa. Allen and Beverly were divorced in 2005 and Allen retired to Crab Orchard, where he has lived ever since. He enjoyed gardening, Nebraska football, and writing letters to friends and family to keep everyone updated on current events. Mostly, he loved his grandchildren and dachshunds.

Ila Jean Gray

Ila Jean Gray, age 86 of Nebraska City died July 11, 2022 at The Ambassador Care Center in Nebraska City. Ila was born April 1, 1936 in Sidney, IA, the daughter of Charlie W. and Della Elizabeth (White) Smith. She married Denzil Gray March 22, 1978 in Ozark, MO. Denzil died April 27, 2004 in Nebraska City. Ila formerly lived in Ozark before moving to Nebraska City. She managed Days Inn and worked at Alco before her retirement. Ila was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved flowers and angels. She enjoyed spending time with children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
