Rosemary E. Schmitz

Rosemary E. Schmitz, age 78, of Plattsmouth, NE, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, NE. Rosemary Elaine (Paben) Schmitz was born on May 15, 1944, in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of William and Hilda (Kuessel) Paben. She attended school at St. Benedict’s Elementary. Her family later moved to Plattsmouth, NE, where she attended St. John’s Elementary and Plattsmouth High School. Rosemary also attended Bellevue College, and took art classes at a Bellevue studio. She worked for the Nebraska Psychiatric Institute (NPI) for some time before going to work at the Glenwood Resource Center in Glenwood, IA, as a programming tech working with clients on communication and daily living skill development for 17 years. After leaving full-time work, she worked part-time for Hallmark in Hawaii and Nebraska. Rosemary was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Schmitz on April 20th, 1996, at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth, NE. She was very involved with the Catholic Church and Catholic charities. She was a woman of deep faith and was always willing to help those in need. She was a member of various church women’s groups, such as the Catholic Daughters. She was a loyal contributor to Sienna Francis House in Omaha and taught CCD for many years. Outside of the church, she was a volunteer and organizer of community food pantries, clothing drives, and holiday food/gift box programs for those in need. She enjoyed genealogy and was a member of the Nebraska Genealogical Society. She researched and documented her family tree back multiple generations. She was a proud cancer survivor and a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society. Her greatest love was her family, and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Lyndie (Carol Lynn Heitmeier) Wadsworth age 70 of Omaha, formerly of Norfolk, NE passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE. She was born on August 29, 1952.

Shirley Ann Brannon

Shirley Ann Brannon, 87-- year-old Wyandotte resident, went to her heavenly home on October 5, 2022. Shirley was born in Union, Nebraska on August 27, 1935, to Thorton and Bernadine (Crawford) Lee. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Bobby Brannon, in April of 1953 and together they raised 4 children. Shirley had many hobbies and interests. She loved attending and being involved at Elk River Baptist Church, enjoying the lake and boating, watching the birds at her bird feeders as well as the pelicans on her lake view. Shirley collected elephants and dolls and enjoyed hitting the flea markets. In her younger years she enjoyed cooking, camping with the family, traveling, and collecting antique cars and going to car shows with her husband. Above all the rest, she loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and family. Survivors include her children: Timothy Brannon and wife Diana of Thurman, IA, Tina Jones of Bella Vista, AR, Tony Brannon, and Perry Brannon of Wyandotte, OK, brother Gary Lee and wife Vicki of Nebraska City, NE, 14 grandchildren and 30+ great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Brannon, and brothers: Dee Lee, Ronnie Lee, and Roy Lee. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm., Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at the Elk River Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Glasgow officiating. Interment will follow at Olympus North Cemetery. Jack Leroy Cook

Jack Leroy Cook, age 76, passed away October 3, 2022, surrounded by family at The Ambassador in Sidney following an extended illness. Jack was born September 25, 1946 in Nebraska City to Charles and Ruth (Baker) Cook. Jack was united in marriage to Kathleen Juilfs on November 24, 1975. He worked for many years for Concrete Industries. Jack enjoyed fishing and was a talented artist. He never knew a stranger and seemed to always know someone wherever he went. His favorite pastimes included spending time telling stories to his grandchildren, enjoying a root beer float, and watching a good movie. Everyone who knew him can attest to his unwavering orneriness and ability to brighten a room with a goofy smile. His ability to keep alive the memories of those who passed before us will be treasured deeply as we continue to honor the memory of such a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lori Miller; granddaughter, Elizabeth Chapman; sisters, Iris Steckly, June McIntire and Charlene Patton; and brother, Charles Cook Jr. He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Sidney, IA; daughter, Becky Chapman of Shenandoah, IA; son, Shane of West Memphis, AR; grandchildren, Kevin Powell and Christopher Miller of Bellevue, Emma Chapman of Sidney, Elise Chapman of Washington DC and Ethan Chapman of Shenandoah; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 8, 2022held at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA with Pastor Jan Phillips officiating.
