The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 covers non-recreational uses of drones weighing between 0.55 to 55 pounds. All drone pilots are required to have a license if they are using their drones for paid work or for non-recreational purposes. This includes industries like emergency management, law enforcement, real state and land management, aerial photography, and agriculture. In agriculture, drones are primarily used for crop monitoring and scouting and checking on livestock. Sray drones are also becoming an important tool in agricultural operations.
Nebraska City Master Gardener and gardening enthusiast Rita Beck gave an educational presentation on becoming a Master Gardener at Grimm’s Gardens on Thursday, Feb. 20. Beck volunteers her time and talents to maintain the Victorian Garden at the Wildwood Historic Center. The 60th and final Nebraska City Coin Club Coin Show drew collectors to the Eagles Club on Sunday, Feb. 9, for one last chance to buy, sell, and trade coins, currency, tokens, and medals.

The youngest students in Nebraska City Public Schools are showing significant improvement in their academic progress.
Providing in-home help so older Nebraskans can continue to live at home instead of having to move to a care facility is the goal of Safe at Home, which began in 2021 with four clients in Sidney. The company now has three offices across the state of Nebraska, including one at 724 Central Ave. The new office hosted an open house and ribbon cutting on Thursday, Jan. 30. The company is licensed to work with adults 18 and older in Nebraska, and its services include light housekeeping, cooking and meal planning, transportation, and companion care. Arbor Lanes hosted its first Customer Appreciation Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 1, as part of the celebration of the bowling alley being in operation under Scotty Kilpatrick Jr. Seventy-three bowlers took part in the tournament, which will become an annual event, and prizes ranged from $5 to $630. Part of the celebration included a special ribbon cutting hosted by Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce. Arbor Lanes will host a fundraising tournament for United Way of Nebraska City on Saturday, Feb. 22, beginning at 11 a.m. Arbor Lanes is located at 2023 Industrial Rd.
