Rehmeier discusses ‘Snack Shack’ at NC Rotary meeting

Two years ago, writer-director Adam Rehmeier approached the Nebraska City City Council with what he described as “a Hail Mary with nothing greenlit”—a request to film his next movie, “Snack Shack,” in Nebraska City.“We had so many huge ‘asks’,” Rehmeier told the Nebraska City Rotary Club on March 13, from closing city streets for filming to taking over the Steinhart Aquatic Center during busy summer days, “and Nebraska City never said ‘no.’”Rehmeier wrote his semi-autobiographical screenplay during the 2020 pandemic, working from a collection of notecards of events he recalled from summers growing up in Nebraska City.

Four candidates on the ballot for Nebraska State Senate District 1 seat

Four candidates have filed to be placed on the ballot in the May 14 Nebraska primary for the Nebraska State Senate seat in District 1, which includes Otoe, Nemaha, Pawnee, Richardson, and Johnson counties.Current State Senator Julie Slama has announced her plans to leave public office to focus on her family and her private law practice.Candidates for the office are Robert Hallstrom of Syracuse, Bob Holman of Auburn, Dennis Schaardt of Steinauer, and Glenda Willnerd of Unadilla.
