Following on-scene assessments in southeast Nebraska by trained professionals, the National Weather Service has released additional details on the Dec. 15 storm that hit Otoe County and surrounding areas.
The University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) recently received an $86,375 grant from Women Investing in Nebraska (WIN) to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in Head Start preschool programs. This is the first WIN grant awarded to UNK in the WIN program’s 10-year history.
Stoltenow will be the next dean and director of Nebraska Extension. Stoltenow currently serves as assistant director of extension for agriculture and natural resources at North Dakota State University.

Gina Essink and Tammy Hays will be retiring from the Otoe County Farm Service Agency December 31, 2021, with nearly 70 years of combined service. Over the years, Gina has assisted numerous producers in southeast Nebraska with various farm loan programs, having worked in Nemaha, Gage and Otoe County over the years.
Peru State Bowling Coordinator Brenda Lutz has announced the college will be hosting two youth bowling camps for grades K-12. The camp for those in kindergarten through third grade will take place Saturday, Jan.
