Specialty Food Auction raises funds for 4-H
Hundreds of dollars was raised at the 4-H Specialty Food Auction held Friday, August 1, 2025 at the Otoe County Fair. Several 4-H’ers presented their baked goods. Emma Beede’s baked goods brought the highest bid at $360. Mark Easter was the auctioneer. Participants receive 50% of the proceeds while the other 50% goes to the council.
Van Meter wins Round Robin Showmanship at 2025 Otoe County Fair
Lydia Van Meter was named the All-Around Showmanship Champion at the Round Robin Livestock contest at the Otoe County Fair.
Farmer Olympics offers another year of unique challenges
The horse arena on the Otoe County Fairgrounds was the setting for Farmer Olympics on Aug. 2, 2025, a challenge course featuring “farm obstacles”. Three divisions provided opportunities for young to young at heart to participate. This is the third year hosted by the Syracuse FFA Boosters and Alumni. Since the second year, the group has been able to do the event free of charge and as a service to the Otoe County Community. Organizers credit the generosity of businesses and individuals who financially support the event with over 30 supporters helping sponsor the event.
Spaghetti feed to help raise mental health awareness
Shine Your Light Nebraska City and Small Beginnings would like to invite the community to a free spaghetti feed from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, at Pin High Clubhouse and Grill, 5633 I Rd.
Quilts of Valor presented during County Fair
Six Otoe County veterans received Quilts of Valor from the Blue Star Mothers of Nebraska Chapter 1 Nebraska City during the Otoe County Fair.
