The Nebraska City girls’ and boys’ wrestling teams made history at Platteview on Jan. 28 by sweeping both divisions of the Trailblazer Conference tournament. The girls’ team competed in its first-ever sanctioned district tournament at home on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 4, and Feb. 5 with the top three competitors in each weight class gaining qualification to the first-ever NSAA Girls’ State Wrestling Championship tournament. The Pioneer boys’ team will follow suit by competing at its district tournament on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11 and 12, also at home. The top four wrestlers in each weight class will qualify for the NSAA Boys’ State Wrestling Championship tournament. The girls’ and boys’ teams will compete at state on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17, 18 and 19.
