Blake Miller’s Husker football dream became just a little bit more real last week during a special event at Lourdes school last week where Miller confirmed his intent to attend college at UNL and play for the Big Red. Miller attended Husker football games as a kid and thought about how cool it would be to take the field at Memorial Stadium.
The Kerry Grombacher and Aspen Black Duo will perform at the Morton-James Public Library on Feb. 18 in the Kimmel Gallery. The concert is free and open to the public. Seating will be limited and masks optional. Doors will open for seating at 6:30, concert starts at 7 p.m.
Below average runoff forecast for upper Missour Riv The updated 2022 calendar year runoff forecast for the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City, Iowa, continues to be below average. “Despite January’s runoff being slightly above average, we expect 2022 runoff to remain below average,” said John Remus, chief of the U.S.

The Nebraska City High School speech team had one medalist at the Omaha Skutt Catholic meet on Friday, Feb 4 as Jaden Leasure placed 5th place in humorous prose. Nebraska City was to compete at Auburn's invitational meet this coming weekend, and, after Auburn, NCHS will have two regular season meets remaining including the district contest that determines state qualifiers.
The Nebraska City girls’ and boys’ wrestling teams made history at Platteview on Jan. 28 by sweeping both divisions of the Trailblazer Conference tournament. The girls’ team competed in its first-ever sanctioned district tournament at home on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 4, and Feb. 5 with the top three competitors in each weight class gaining qualification to the first-ever NSAA Girls’ State Wrestling Championship tournament. The Pioneer boys’ team will follow suit by competing at its district tournament on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11 and 12, also at home. The top four wrestlers in each weight class will qualify for the NSAA Boys’ State Wrestling Championship tournament. The girls’ and boys’ teams will compete at state on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17, 18 and 19.
