April is month of games, Easter celebration at Arbor Lodge
April is a month of fun and games at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park. Arbor Lodge Mansion will host the History of Games on April 2 and 9 in celebration of National Board Game Day, which is April 11.

Brock and Amber Morrison of Bennet announce the birth of their daughter, Callie Rose, born on March 14, 2022, at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln. She weighed 7 lb.
Nebraskans won’t inherit tax relief
Back on February 18, 2022, at a Governor Pete Ricketts sponsored Nebraska City town hall meeting, I asked the governor if he realized that by his signing into law the decrease in Nebraska’s inheritance tax that he had in effect just increased local property taxes.
What about Medical Cannabis?
Since ancient times, marijuana has been used for medicinal and recreational purposes in many cultures. In the United States, it became illegal during prohibition, like alcohol. Later, under the Controlled Substances Act in the 1970’s, the federal government classified marijuana a Schedule 1 drug. This classification includes heroin, LSD, and ecstasy, all deemed to have no safe, effective medical use and a high potential for abuse.
A family history breakthrough
Regular readers of this column know that I am a family historian. They also know that I inherited the project from my father in those pre-internet days of 40-plus years ago, when you actually had to write letters, cross your fingers and hope they were answered, and then hope the answer provided the information you hoped to locate.

Easter eggs are decorated in many hues before they're ultimately hidden for youngsters to find. While pastel-colored eggs are the norm, one color has particular religious significance for those who want to go a bit bolder with their egg displays. It is tradition among Orthodox Christians to exchange red eggs. According to History.com, red eggs are associated with Mary Magdalene and her role in Christianity. After the Ascension of Christ, Mary Magdalene went to the Roman emperor and greeted him with "Christ is Risen." He then stated, "Christ has not risen no more than that egg is red (pointing to an egg on his table)." After making the statement, the egg turned blood red. Mary Magdalene then began preaching Christianity to him, and the red egg has come to symbolize the blood of Christ redeeming the world.
Department of Animal Science to host Western Dressage Clinic
The University of Nebraska—Lincoln Department of Animal Science Extension will host its second Western Dressage Clinic: Learning The new WDAA 2022 Tests Through the Levels. The clinic will be from 1 to 5 p.m.
