NC council approves Arbor Day, Treestock festival plans

Community festivals and events were one of the main discussion topics at the April 4 meeting of the Nebraska City City Council. Council members approved Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce’s plans for the upcoming Arbor Day Festival April 29 to May 1, and it also approved a request from Arbor Day Farm for special commemorative banners celebrating the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day and the 50th anniversary of the Arbor Day Foundation to be placed on city street poles near Arbor Lodge, as well as a plan for a 10-minute fireworks show by Arbor Day Farm on Friday, April 29.

Open Door Dinner

First Christian Church at 114 N. 8th St., will be hosting its open door dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on April 12. The menu for the open door dinner is sloppy joes, potato chips, cole slaw and Jello cake. The meal is free and open to all.
