The winners of the annual Arbor Day Poster Contest for students in kindergarten through fifth grade were announced during the April 29 children's programs at Northside Elementary and at the mansion at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park. This year's winners, who were recognized at the morning Northside program, are Luna Neeman, Northside, kindergarten; Allie Schnitzer, Lourdes Central Catholic, first grade; and Mya Pals, Northside, second grade. Recognized at the afternoon Arbor Lodge program were Gwen Ebmeier, Lourdes Central Catholic, third grade; Emsly Shannon, Hayward, fourth grade; and Noah Walker, Hayward, fifth grade.

Seventy-five years after its initial publication, "The Diary of Anne Frank" continues to spark discussion. Lourdes Central Catholic recently hosted a 35-panel exhibit from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam that drew 162 people to the school for a tour led by student docents.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking to provide additional hunting and fishing opportunities on private lands through its Open Fields and Waters Program. Landowners willing to allow public, walk-in access for hunting or fishing can receive annual, per-acre payments through the program.
