Rotary Foundation is discussion topic
Rotary District 5650 Chair of the Rotary Foundation Mick McKinley visited the Nebraska City Rotary Club Feb. 26 to discuss the Foundation’s work. He said the Foundation began in 1915 when Rotary President Arch Klumpf set aside $27.50 as seed money. Among the projects funded by the Rotary Foundation are Polio Plus, the organization’s ongoing effort to eradicate polio around the world, and the Annual Fund, which supports grants made worldwide by Rotary International. McKinley said members of the Nebraska City Rotary Club have donated $94.472 to Rotary International in the 99 years the club has been in existence. Local organizations helped by the Nebraska City Rotary Club in the past year include Meals on Wheels, the Backpack Program of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, CASA, and the Nebraska City Food Pantry.
