The Wagon Wheel, 612 Central Ave., will host fund-raising events for the family of Liam Clowers on Sunday, Aug. 3. Freewill donations will be collected for the family, a sloppy joe feed will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. The event will also feature freewill raffles and a silent auction. Pictured above is a memorial to Liam in the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building parking lot. Merz Ink also sold LEGO-themed shirts in honor of Liam as a fund-raiser for the family. A total of $1,300 was raised by Merz Ink.

The artwork of 13 Nebraska students will be featured in the 2026 “Nebraska: Don’t Waste It!” environmental calendar.

The Brownville Concert Series is thrilled to welcome to Brownville, Josh Hoyer SOLO – Stories and Songs. Hoyer will be performing solo, bringing some of his original soul, blues, and Americana music to Brownville. The songs come directly from Hoyer’s life and have a realness that begs the listener to step into his world. It’s sure to be one you won’t want to miss! The shows will be in cabaret on Friday & Saturday, August 8th & 9th at 7:30pm, and Sunday, August 10th at 2:00pm. The Nebraska City Police Department is reminding drivers to obey speed limits, during the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) national traffic enforcement campaign, Speeding Prevention, from July 14 - 31.
