New LCC National Honor Society members

Lourdes Central Catholic inducted 13 new members from its junior class into the National Honor Society on Friday, February 28. To be a member of NHS, a student must be a junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, be involved in at least two extra-curricular activities and attend church on a regular basis.

Retirement reception honors Meyer at Southeast CC

An afternoon reception at the Southeast Community College Learning Center at Nebraska City celebrated 47 years of contributions from Learning Center Coordinator Cindy Meyer, who retired from full-time employment with the college on Friday, Feb. 14. In retirement, Meyer plans to continue as a part-time floater in SCC’s Learning Centers, manage her son’s Airbnb rental, and support field crews on the family farm.

Souper Bowl Luncheon Feb. 9 at NC Fire Station

The Nebraska City Museum of Firefighting is hosting the annual Souper Bowl Luncheon on Sunday, February 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nebraska City Fire Station,1409 Central Ave. The menu will feature more than 20 kinds of soup and delicious desserts! There’s something for everyone! Cost of the luncheon is free will donation, and all proceeds from this event benefit the Nebraska City Museum of Firefighting.

Chuck A Duck

TeamMates Mentoring of Nebraska City hosted a fundraising event at halftime of the Nebraska City High School boys’ basketball game on Thursday, Jan. 23. The event, Chuck A Duck, invited participants to buy toy ducks and throw them at a target with the most accurate throwers receiving prizes. TeamMates provides support and encouragement to students through one-to-one, school-based mentoring. The organization’s goal is to positively impact youth to reach their full potential through mentoring.
