Carl T. Calfee, age 58, of Nebraska City moved to heaven on September 22, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. Carl was born on April 4, 1964 in Warrenton, VA to Gary and Gladys (Stiverson) Calfee. Carl and his sisters, Kellie, and Cindy, grew up as military brats. Carl lived in California, Hawaii, Okinawa, and Massachusetts before graduating from South Page High School in 1982. Carl worked as a nurse for 36 years and held a B.A. in history as well. He was loved by co-workers and patients for his compassion and kindness. Carl married Leigh Dyke on June 11, 1992, and they had two sons, Trent, and Luke. Carl loved painting with pastels and oils, kayaking with Trent, playing bass guitar with Luke and hiking with Leigh. Carl was simply one of the happiest, best humans ever

Carl was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife, Leigh, of NebraskaCity; sons, Trent (Omaha, NE) and Luke (Nebraska City); mother, Gladys (Clarinda, IA); sisters, Kellie Calfee and Cindy (Matt) Darrah (Clarinda); nieces, Megan Calfee and Katelyn Darrah (Clarinda); Maicy Darrah (Bellevue); and Lindsay Darrah (Iowa City).

Visitation with the family will be 5:00 7:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2022 at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City. A memorial service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Marshall Funeral Chapel with Father Jonathan Haschke officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family.
