Members of the Nebraska City Jaycees set up a fund-raising roadblock at the intersection of 10th Street and Central Avenue on Saturday, June 7. Motorists were encouraged to drop money in the donation cans to help offset the cost of this year’s fireworks show, which is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 5, in the south part of Steinhart Park. Donations are still being accepted for this year’s show. Look for donation containers in Nebraska City businesses or shop at Wild Willy’s Fireworks, which is set to open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at 1653 S. 11th St.
The 2025 Legislative Session concluded and the Legislature has adjourned Sine Die. Final Reading of bills was completed on Monday, June 2. Since Governor Pillen did not veto any of the final bills, the Legislature was able to adjourn a week earlier than originally scheduled.
The 2025 Downtown Summer Movie Series continues tomorrow (Saturday, June 14) with “Paddington.” The free series features family-friendly movies shown outdoors in the Sunken Parking Lot on Central Avenue Saturday nights at dusk in the summertime.
