Project Lifesaver Donation

Nebraska City Police Department Chief Ben Murry, left, accepts a donation from the Nebraska City Rotary Club, represented by President Ty Tierney, for the department’s Project Lifesaver during a recent meeting. The Rotary Club gave the NCPD $882 in donations collected from club members during June and doubled by the club before presentation. NCPD’s Project Lifesaver program can help reunite individuals who might wander away from safety because of a cognitive condition and their families. Participants in the program wear special bracelets that can be tracked by first responders in the event that the wearer wanders away from home.

Celebrating America

Today we celebrate the 249th anniversary of America’s founding. With the Declaration of Independence, our founders sought to overthrow tyranny with a simple and self-evident idea. They knew that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights. Our founding ideals of freedom, justice, and equality have guided our country for nearly 250 years.

Independence Day in Nebraska’s 4th of July City

Each year on the 4th of July, families across Nebraska come together to celebrate more than just fireworks and festivals. We celebrate our founding ideals — the belief that all are created equal, endowed with the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Knee High?

There is an old saying about corn and this time in July. That saying has gotten “blown out of the water” this year.
