NDOT issues September traffic fatality number

During the month of September 2023, twenty-two people were killed in trafficcrashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.• These 22 fatalities occurred in 21 fatal crashes.• Six of the sixteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, four were using a seatbelt, andsix had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.• Fourteen of the fatalities were in rural locations*.• There was one fatality on the interstate, thirteen on other highways, and eight on local roads.• Two of the fatalities were bicyclists.• Two of the fatalities were motorcyclists.• Two of the fatalities were pedestrians.
