Pioneer girls’ wrestling primed for success in 2023-24

Interest in the sport of girls’ wrestling continues to go throughout the state of Nebraska and also within the Nebraska City High School program as the Pioneers report 13 athletes out for the sport this year, an increase over a season ago.Juniors Rylee Stracke and Joselyn Davis are returning state qualifiers for the Pioneers and look to be the top leaders on the team.

Pioneers seek dual success, individual state qualifiers

With a complete line up of wrestlers covering all weight classes, the Pioneer team looks to take its dual game to the next level, compete for a position at the state dual tournament at Kearney and then take as many individuals as possible to the state tournament in Omaha.Seniors on the Pioneer roster are Isaac Bruggeman, Gabe Hartman, Lane Hobbs, Jackson Kreifel, Carter Maybee, Alex Peter, and Drew Weddle with juniors being Jayden Adams, Daxx Bender, Pedro Bonilla, Alex Christiansen, Dominick Sterling, and Dawson Thorne.Nebraska City is really seeking to foster a comprehensive and team-focused approach.

Inspiring Pioneers look to continue positive energy

Despite a small roster, last year’s Nebraska City girls’ basketball team inspired many with their drive to compete and their positive outlook.And the Pioneers will be looking to build on that foundation this year.The Pioneer team recorded three wins a season ago with two victories against Ralston and a win over Conestoga.
