Thanks to the generosity of the Nebraska City community, Christmas Wishes Paying It Forward was able to provide 25 hand warmers to first responders during the snowstorms and extremely cold weather in early to mid-January.“While the rest of us can stay home, our first responders have to go out during a call,” said Christmas Wishes Paying It Forward Founder Margaret Spiers.
Representatives of the Nebraska City Creative District provided a community update at the January Hot Topics at the Morton-James Public Library.Areas of focus in the new year will include capital improvements, branding, and marketing upcoming events, according to Nebraska City Creative District Board Member Tammy Partsch.In the area of capital improvements, Partsch said the district hopes to be able to renovate some downtown buildings to provide maker spaces and other work areas for artists, which will also help with economic development efforts downtown.
