Benefit planned Aug. 3 for Clowers family

The Wagon Wheel, 612 Central Ave., will host fund-raising events for the family of Liam Clowers on Sunday, Aug. 3. Freewill donations will be collected for the family, a sloppy joe feed will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. The event will also feature freewill raffles and a silent auction. Pictured above is a memorial to Liam in the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building parking lot. Merz Ink also sold LEGO-themed shirts in honor of Liam as a fund-raiser for the family. A total of $1,300 was raised by Merz Ink.

Thank you, Nebraska City, for responding to complaints about the water pump in the Dog Park. Dog owners will no longer have to choose between wet, muddy dogs or dispoointed dogs. The swamp is gone! The new pump can be reached from either side and turns off completely. No more muddy morass!
