The Nebraska City City Council met on Monday, April 15, and took the following actions:Approved a Nebraska City Growth Fund loan not to exceed $45,000 to Gregory Welding;Approved special designated license requests from Backstage Bar LLC and Catering Investments LLC for events at the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building On June 22 and Nov.
Tammy Partsch, Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce Marketing Director, presented the winner’s trophy for the Arbor Town Throw Down Paper Airplane Contest to Connor Callen.
Pilots and pancake lovers enjoyed this year’s Jaycees Fly-In Breakfast, an annual Arbor Day event, at the Nebraska City Municipal Airport on Sunday, April 28.
Runners and walkers enjoyed the Arbor Day Fun Run on Saturday on a course that utilized the trail system behind the Lied Conference Center.

Father Time caught up with our 108th Legislature in dramatic fashion on April 18, with LB 1402 (a bill to empower parents to choose the school of their choice for their child, regardless of income) passing with 33 votes and Governor Pillen’s tax shift bill, LB 388, running out of steam before the finish line.LB 388, promised by some as a “magic bullet” for fixing our tax system, faced strong opposition from fiscal conservatives immediately.
