Our Family’s Miss 4th of July

With the 248th birthday of our nation straight ahead, I’m delving into the family history archives a bit to share some stories of my little (5-foot-tall) paternal grandmother, Marie Achenbach Raczkowski, who just happened to share her birthday with our country.G-mom R, as my sister and I refer to her in our texting shorthand, left her tiny Polish village near the Lithuanian border in 1908 when she was 18.

I think I left you in our new/old restaurant in Murdock, last week, didn’t I?Hallie and I were really looking forward to having Saturday lunch there when we returned from getting our weekly beautification treatment at Lani’s Hairport in Weeping Water.

NC 18s play tourneys, take second place

The Nebraska City 18s fast pitch softball team competed at the USA Softball State Tournament on June 14, 15 and 16, at Hastings, and were once again in action for the USSSA State Tournament on June 21, 22 and 23 in Lincoln.Nebraska City won five of seven games at the USA event and recorded a second-place finish for the tournament.Box scores from that tournament are below.NC 9, Force Softball 4Nebraska City had nine runs on 14 hits with one error.Tarryn Godsey went 3-for-4 with a double while Lextyn Harker had a single and a double.
