Chief Lacy looks back at 43-year career in law enforcement

Retiring Nebraska City Police Department Chief Dave Lacy is a fine storyteller, and 43 years in law enforcement have given him many stories to tell.Chief Lacy spent part of his last week on the job as the featured speaker at the July Hot Topics on July 10 at the Morton-James Public Library.Lacy admitted he questioned his decision to join the force during his first shift in August 1981.

Council hears report on NC Economic Growth Fund

The Nebraska City Economic Growth Fund has provided two downtown improvement grants and made a loan to an existing Nebraska City business in fiscal year 2023-2024.The Nebraska City City Council heard a biannual update on the fund from fund administrator Dan Mauk, executive director of the Nebraska City Area Economic Development Corp.

Tree City Garden Club announces July Yard of the Month

The Tree City Garden Club has awarded Teresa and Colin Albers of 608 Wildwood Lane with the July Yard of the Month honor.Rosie Pfeiffer, who selects the award recipient for the club, said she thought the Albers have “an uplifting home to drive by.”Teresa Albers said she likes color and flowers, as well as having something different in the yard each season.
