All third-graders and their families are invited to a Family Fire Safety Education Night tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the Nebraska City Fire & Rescue station, located at 1409 Central Ave.

Attendees will be able to learn how to get out of a burning building safely by going through a dark smoke-filled maze and the free event. Smoke detectors will be passed out to each family, food and drinks will be served, fire safety classes will be held and there will be drawings for a boy’s and a girl’s bicycle and helmets.

Hot dogs, refreshments and looking at the firefighting and EMS equipment will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fire safety education classes run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The bicycle drawings and ice cream will take place from 8 to 8:30 p.m.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend the event to enhance their child’s experience.
