Roy R. Rubenking, age 74 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at his home.

Roy was born on December 11, 1940 in Anderson, IN; the son of William Richard and Fern Lorena (Rodaway) Rubenking.  Shortly after his birth the family moved to the rural Dunbar, NE area.  

He attended school in Dunbar and graduated from the Dunbar High School in 1958.  He then went on to get his teaching degree from Peru State College.  He began teaching at the Nebraska School for the Visually Handicapped after graduating from Peru and taught there for 36 years, before retiring in 1999.

Roy was united in marriage to Laquita Allgood on January 20, 1963 in Peru, NE and to this union two children were born:  Lori and Marvin.

He is survived by his two children:  Lori Devine and husband Terry of Lincoln, NE and Marvin Rubenking and wife Heather of Waverly, NE; four grandchildren:  Chet Calkins; Amanda Trueblood and husband Chris and Caden and Carley Rubenking; two great-grandchildren:  Trayton and Kambridge Trueblood; one sister Shirley Halpern of Lincoln, NE; nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Laquita Rubenking on August 25, 2011; his parents and brother-in-law Howard Halpern.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.  Inurnment will follow the services.

Memorials may be given to the Otoe County Food Pantry.   Remembrances may be left at   Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City is in charge of arrangements.
