Joan Louise (Kerner) Douglas, 83, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born to Anton and Agnes (Neukirch) Kerner on May 21, 1931 near Vesta, Nebraska. Joan graduated from Tecumseh High School with the class of 1948.

Joan Louise (Kerner) Douglas, 83, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born to Anton and Agnes (Neukirch) Kerner on May 21, 1931 near Vesta, Nebraska.  Joan graduated from Tecumseh High School with the class of 1948.

   On January 3, 1949, Joan was united in marriage to William Ray Douglas at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska.  To this union three children, Bev, Cathy, and Bill were born.  Joan worked as a telephone operator in Tecumseh before moving to Humboldt in 1960.  She and Ray owned Pawnee Transfer Company where Joan was an office manager for many years until retirement.  Joan’s passion was her flowers.  She loved all types, colors, and varieties of flowers and was especially proud of her garden of flowers around her home.

  Joan passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the age of eighty-three years, ten months, and nine days.  She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eunice Evans and Alice Eckles, and a brother Tony Kerner.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ray Douglas of Humboldt, NE; children: Bev Keller and her husband Danny of Lincoln, NE; Cathy Schroeder and her husband John of
Lincoln, NE; Bill Douglas and his wife Brenda of Humboldt, NE; five grandchildren: Keri
Keller of Lincoln, NE; Kory Keller and wife Lindsey of Lincoln, NE; Jenny Schroeder of
Omaha, NE; Britt Douglas of Ft. Worth, TX; Blake Douglas and wife Kendra of
Humboldt, NE; great-grandchildren MyKinzie and Braedyn Keller; sister-in-law,
Rose Kerner of Tecumseh, NE; brothers-in-law: Bob Evans of Marysville, KS; Bill
Eckles of Lincoln, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson, Nebraska with Father Kenneth Hoesing
officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015, at the Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska.

Interment will be in the Humboldt Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Colonial Acres Nursing Home.
