After a summer break, the Beatrice Adult Education/Nebraska City GED(r) and Basic Education classes will resume Aug. 18. Nebraska City classes meet at in the evenings at the Center for Children and Families on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7:30.
Southeast Community College in Beatrice sponsors the Adult Education program, a federal and state program that provides basic education skills to individuals who are 16 years of age and older and not enrolled in school. A $20 registration fee is due the first day of class.
The major components of Adult Education include GED(r) preparation for those without a high school diploma; basic skills for those who need to improve in a specific area or enhance their life skills; English as a Second Language for residents who wish to learn to speak, read and write English; and citizenship classes for those wishing to become U.S. citizens.
