Harold “Bud” Hespen, 85, of Syracuse died Jan. 23, 2014 in Lincoln. He was born to Fred and Anna (Beckfelt) Hespen on Jan. 29, 1928 in Syracuse. He married Carol Parrish on June 6, 1959 in Seneca, Kan.

Harold “Bud” Hespen, 85, of Syracuse died Jan. 23, 2014 in Lincoln. He was born to Fred and Anna (Beckfelt) Hespen on Jan. 29, 1928 in Syracuse. He married Carol Parrish on June 6, 1959 in Seneca, Kan.


    Bud served in the Air Force and belonged to the VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and business owner.


    He is survived by sons Lyle (Teresa) Hespen of Eagle and Joel Hespen and friend Kim Williams of Beatrice; grandchildren Bridget (Dustin) Bogle, Amber (Jay Thomas) Hespen, Tracey (Neil) Falk, Wendy (Matthew) Post and Tyler Hespen; great grandchildren Lily and Sam Bogle, Brian and Byranna Post, Kayson Hespen, Brandon Keaton and Ethan Falk; brother Fritz (Norma) Hespen; and sister Doris Sheehan.


    He was preceded by wife Carol and brothers Raymond, Donald and Gillard Hespen.


    Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Chapel in Syracuse with burial at Park Hill Cemetery there.


    Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.


    Visitation is Sunday, Jan. 26, from 1-9 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 27, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
