Simrell and Smallfoot are one of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "teams in training" and plan to compete in the Country Music Marathon in Nashville on April 28.

Their run is dedicated in honor of Lacey Glasford, a high school teacher and survivor of chronic myeloid leukemia, and Andrea Walters, a former county assessor who died at the age of 30 from soft tissue carcinoma in 2008.

There are 26 miles in the marathon and the women would like to honor someone for each mile.
