District Judge Paul Korslund has issued a search warrant authorizing authorities to break the locks on a storage space rented by Rebecca L. Engle at Millard Air Park Self-Storage.

Thomas Sindelar, investigator with the Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance, requested the warrant for access to business records produced while Engle was a stockbroker in Nebraska City from 2002 to 2006.

Sindelar said the state is investigating the sale of securities in Royal Palm and American Capital Corporation.

“As commissioned selling agents of ACC and Royal Palm, they offered and sold these securities to approximately 150 households located primarily in southeast Nebraska,” Sindelar said of Engle and her partner,  Brian Schuster.

Investigators have surveyed the contents of the storage bay on two prior occasions with cooperation from the owner.

Mike Guinan, assistant attorney general and special Otoe County prosecutor, asked investigators to survey documents  a third time, but Sindelar said a key had not been provided for the third inspection.

The warrant authorizes access if needed by “forcefully cutting the lock.”
