Pioneer Softball

The Nebraska City softball team scored three wins in games last week with the Pioneers topping Cass, 9-1, on Sept. 22; and Plattsmouth, 19-2, on Sept. 25, both of those being road contests. The Pioneers won one of two games in the Trailblazer Conference tournament with a 9-3 win over Plattsmouth in a rematch and a 10-8 loss to Malcolm. Hannah Marth and Payton Harrah had home runs against Cass and Olivia L’Heuruex pitched five strikeouts for the win. It took only three innings for the Pioneers to top Plattsmouth on Sept. 25. Marth and Reese Grotrian had homers and Reesyn Becker got the win in the pitching circle. Becker hit a triple and L’Heureux pitched win in the conference tourney rematch with Plattsmouth. A Rylie Beethe two-run homer in the sixth inning had the Pioneers in position for a win against Malcolm but the Clippers were able to hold on for the win. Harrah and Marth also homered in that contest. Counting all those results, the Pioneers were 13-7 on the season.
