Eight students from the NCHS Class of 2024 were recently selected as recipients of the Richard and Melinda Kleineweber Memorial Scholarships from the Nebraska City Public School Foundation. Each will receive a $6,000 award sent to their institution of higher education.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Richard and Melinda Kleineweber Trust, the NCPS Foundation established the Richard and Melinda Kleineweber Scholarship Endowment Fund.

The entire $1.3 million donation is invested in the endowment and the earnings are providing sizable scholarships for graduates of Nebraska City High School.

Graduates from the Class of 2024 who have successfully completed their first year of college were asked to submit applications to the Foundation this year.

“It is with great pleasure that we are able to support these hard working Pioneer graduates with funds that will help them further their education in their desired field of study,” says Lyn Kohrs, NCPS Foundation President. “We are thankful for the opportunity to award substantial scholarships to so many deserving students.”

The eligible recipients from the Class of 2024 are Tristan Kingery, Emma Kingery, Brianna Johnson, Grace McNeely and Sidney Moyer, who are all attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Jaden Leasure is attending Wayne State College, Kalan Fritch is attending Northwest Missouri State University and Ben Chaney is attending Southeast Community College-Milford.

The Foundation previously awarded $40,000 to graduates from the Class of 2023 and anticipates awarding an additional $60,000 to graduates from the Class of 2025.
