Makayla Vasser wrestled seven matches, earned five wins and advanced through a bracket of 74 wrestlers to eventually finish in fourth place at the 2025 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D. over the weekend.
Vasser finished seventh last year.
The event, commonly known as Fargo, is a prominent wrestling tournament organized by USA Wrestling and conducted at the famed Fargodome.
Fargo is the biggest high school tournament in the world with 8,000 wrestlers attending in 2024.
In addition to her success at Fargo, Vasser has had a busy summer. She went to Camp Iron Sharpens Iron in Iowa and the Kearney Camp and wrestled 27 matches at those camps in a week.
In addition to her own wrestling, Vasser has been instructing wrestlers through free youth wrestling clinics for kids from third through 12th grade. She has already led camps at Auburn, Palmyra, Wisner, and North Platte with another camp coming up on July 26 at Hastings. This is the third year for Vasser’s free camps, which have seen over 200 wrestlers attend.
