The Lightning Bugs—Steve Hanson, Jim Pipher, and Reynold Peterson—visited the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building on Saturday, Aug. 17. The group plays “moonbeam swing” and takes its inspiration from artists such as the Mills Brothers and the Inkspots. The concert was presented by the Nebraska City Creative District, which will host its next event, the family-friendly Apple Jamboree, on Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Sunken Parking Lot in the 700 block of Central Avenue. The District will also sponsor live performances by Lucas Minor in the 700 block of Central Avenue from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, and A Couple of Hanyaks on Sunday, Sept. 29, from noon to 3 p.m. during the second weekend of the community’s 56th annual AppleJack Festival. The District is also hosting a Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building, 810 1st Corso.
