Imogene (Gellermann) Bro, 95, of Syracuse, passed away on June 8, 2022 at Good Samaritan Center, Syracuse. Imogene was born on August 1, 1926 in Syracuse, NE to Clara (Lange) and Ernest Gellermann.
Imogene attended Paisley Country School, and Syracuse High School. She was an 80-year member of St. Paulinus Catholic Church, active in Altar Society and St. Paulinus Quilters. She was also on the Germanfest Committee for seven years, 4-H Leader for 10 years, Open Class Superintendent at Otoe Country Fair for 25 years, Pink Sisters Auxiliary. She quilted 25 King size quilts for daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
Imogene married Ernest Bro on September 9, 1942 at St. Paulinus in Syracuse, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage before Ernest’s death in 2009. To this union five daughters were born.
Imogene was a farm wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, God mother, aunt, friend, neighbor, and follower of God.
She is survived by her daughters and spouses; Peggy and Larry Neemann, Syracuse; Teresa and Bruce Liesemeyer, Unadilla; Patti and Ron Rumery, Lincoln; Bonnie Johnson, Washington; grandchildren: Rob and Linda Johnson, Columbus; Jason and Bobbi Berner, Ashland; Shad and Kerby Berner, Syracuse; Makaela and Brendan Bono, Colorado Spings, CO; Christa and Joey Reisdorff, Syracuse; Jordan Rumery, Syracuse; Sarah Johnson, and Shandra Johnson, Washington; son-in-law: Andy Brace and Tiny Beckman, Syracuse; great-grandchildren: Klarissa and Cameron Channer; Kaylee Johnson; Kody, Logan, Mitchell Berner; Lilly Windhorst; Titus Berner; Truman, Macklin, Kieran, Jadyn and baby girl Reisdorff; Clara and Connor Bono, Jax Connely; brother-in-law: Clyde Skinner; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m. all at the funeral home in Syracuse.
Pallbearers are grandchildren, Rob Johnson, Jason Berner, Shad Berner, Makaela Bono, Christa Reisdorff and Jordan Rumery. Honorary Pallbearers are great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial is at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at St. Paulinus Catholic Church, Syracuse with Father Ryan Salisbury and Father Michael Stec. The service will be livestreamed on the St. Paulinus Facebook page. Interment at Park Hill Cemetery, Syracuse.
